As companies become more conscious of the cybersecurity threats looming larger in the coronavirus era, one Tampa Bay giant is committing to keeping at least one portion of the country's biggest sporting event safe.

ReliaQuest, the Tampa-based cybersecurity firm, announced a partnership with the Tampa Bay LV Host Committee on Tuesday.

The company will specifically keep the host committee's newly launched Community Ambassador Program safe from cyber hacks, by securing the software site and data collected during the program's application process.

“ReliaQuest believes security is a team sport and therefore we are excited to partner with the Tampa Bay Super Bowl LV Host Committee and help secure its Community Ambassador Program,” Joe Partlow, chief technology officer at ReliaQuest, said in a statement. “We look forward to contributing to this world-class sporting event and the experience it provides for volunteer participants as well as the Tampa Bay community and beyond.”

The Super Bowl is slated to come to the region next year, despite a delay in the actual NFL season beginning due to the novel coronavirus.

The latest program launched is intended to create a net of volunteers that will "roll out the red carpet" to those visiting the area, according to the Tampa Bay LV Host Committee. It expects more than 8,000 community ambassadors to fill the majority of shifts during the week of February 7 when the game is still tentatively set to be held.

“We are thrilled to bring our region its fifth Super Bowl and will rely heavily on our supportive community and locals to show the world what our area has to offer,” Rob Higgins, president and COO of the Tampa Bay Super Bowl LV Host Committee, said in a statement. “Together, Team Tampa Bay will work together to help our hometown shine on the biggest of stages."
