While Tampa Bay residents may still be hunkering down in their work from home set ups, a new coworking spot will be available to St. Pete when coronavirus (hopefully) lifts.

Industrious, the New York City-based coworking space, will be opening in St. Pete's downtown building at 200 Central Avenue. The announcement comes on the heels of a partnership with Third Lake Partners, a financial services firm in Tampa.

“Third Lake is excited about our continued partnership with Industrious,” said Robert Forsythe, President and COO of Third Lake. “The 200 Central project will be transformative to our building and downtown St. Pete and will facilitate collaborative work spaces for the growing technology and professional scene.”

Industrious 200 Central is expected to span almost 37,000 sq. ft. across the building's third, fourth and fifth floor. It has a slated 2021 opening date.

“This is exciting news for St. Pete as it aligns well with our needs,” St. Pete Mayor Rick Kriseman said in a statement. “I expect Industrious will be popular here as they’ve been throughout the country and thank them for their commitment to the Sunshine City.”

The St. Pete location will join Tampa's Industrious, which opened in 2017 in the SunTrust Financial Centre. In November 2019, Industrious announced it would be opening in Centro Ybor's old movie theater.

When the St. Pete location is open, Industrious will span more than 120,000 sq. ft. across the region.

“Industrious is committed to meeting businesses and employees where they live, and the Tampa Bay area increasingly ranks among the top regions in the nation for economic and population growth,” Justin Stewart, president and co-founder of Industrious, said in a statement. “We’re excited to be a part of that journey by bringing the first coworking spaces to St. Petersburg and we look forward to supporting its thriving business community as it continues to grow across a range of industries.”

St. Pete already has a plethora of coworking spaces, including Rising Tide Innovation Center, Station House and Clear Labs.
