As 2019 comes to a close, WeWork is not letting the year end without making its mark in Tampa.
The coworking space, known for its Instagram-friendly offices and becoming more well-known for quickly losing value and its loss of CEO Adam Neumann, will open in early December, according to officials. A ribbon cutting will be held Dec. 18.
The company will span three floors at 501 East Kennedy in downtown Tampa, spanning 52,515 sq. ft. There will be 16 conference rooms, 25 phone booths, 12 nooks, three lounges, three pantries, a new mother's room and a quiet room.
Members can select a "hot desk" which is in a shared, open space, a private office which can fit between one and 45 employees, or a "large space solution" for a larger office space.
The Tampa space was originally announced in January, with plans for a second location already in the works. The next WeWork is planned at 2002 N. Tampa St., in the Heights District near Armature Works.
"Tampa is quickly emerging as a global destination for start-ups and new enterprises. We feel that now is the ideal time to launch the type of forward-thinking workspace, programming and services that will help bolster the region's growing community of creators and innovators," Bobby Condon, WeWork Southeast general manager, said in an email statement to Tampa Bay Inno. "WeWork Place will support the growth and revitalization of Downtown Tampa while providing member companies of all sizes with the resources and tools they need to succeed."
