As cybersecurity issues continue to make moves across the nation and world, officials are looking to crack down on making sure companies are complying with what they need to in order to keep hackers at bay.

Tampa Bay-based companies Abacode and Tech Data Corp. announced Tuesday they have teamed up to help companies do just that. Tech Data is one of the largest end-to-end distributors of technology products, services and solutions, to provide security and compliance program implementation services to companies. Abacode is a managed security services provider, which helps with solutions and compliance services for organizations.

They'll be offering their services to all of Tech Data's clients and clients of clients, which could be in the "hundreds of thousands" according to Abacode's CEO Michael Ferris.

"We wanted to get out in front to say, 'Hey folks, sweeping regulations are coming,'" Ferris said. "A lot of people are feeling it and the regulation requires to make them more compliant and meet specific regulations — and they don’t know where to turn."

Ferris said this could be especially important for companies like health care and financial services that are not necessarily in the technology sector but still have data to manage.

"You have these specific regulations that financial services have to meet, or health care, utility providers; all different sectors," he said. "Currently they're getting ready to meet regulations and there will be some regulation they're required to comply with, as a business or one of their clients or partners. There's a handful of sectors and industries that are required today to comply and we will see that to escalate to more industries and sectors."

Tech Data works with other companies that help their clients with compliance, and officials said they believe Abacode will be a great new addition.

"We rely on strategic vendor partnerships to help drive Tech Data's brand and services forward, and Abacode is one of those companies that we are excited to collaborate with," said Alex Ryals, vice president of security solutions at Tech Data, in a statement. "Abacode's people and processes are top notch, and they bring a level of quality and depth of services that fits perfectly into our value-added portfolio."
