Only 16% of workers feel that the use of artificial intelligence in the workplace will help more than hurt them personally, according to a new report from Pew Research.

Another 15% feel the use of AI will hurt more than help, with another 30% responding that it will equally help and hurt.

However, optimism over the potential impact increases when looking specifically at industries that are the most currently exposed to AI. For example, 32% of people in information and technology feel the emerging tech will be helpful, compared to only 11% who feel it will hurt their jobs.

The employees with the biggest pessimism over the impact are in retail trade, where 24% feel the use of AI will negatively impact them professionally. However, 16% in the retail trade feel AI will help.
