Tampa-based cybersecurity firm OPSWAT completed and released its 2023 State of Web Application Security report, and its findings could be surprising to some.

The company surveyed over 400 executive leaders, managers and senior contributors. Here are some of the findings:

  • 75% of organizations have made significant strides to upgrade infrastructure in the past year
  • 78% have increased their security budgets
  • 2% of industry experts are confident in their security strategies
  • 62% of organizations use five or fewer antivirus engines to detect malicious file uploads

"Irrespective of the size or industry, organizations must recognize that infrastructure upgrades alone are not sufficient to guarantee robust security," said Yiyi Miao, chief product officer at OPSWAT, in a release. "It is imperative to establish a proactive defense strategy that goes beyond traditional measures. By adopting and combining advanced threat prevention technologies like multi-AV scanning, CDR, DLP and dynamic threat analysis, organizations can effectively establish multiple lines of defense against known and unknown emerging threats and safeguard their critical infrastructure."

Along with infrastructure upgrades, the use of applications that utilize storage services has increased, the report said.
