While April brought in plenty of funding with even more relocations, this month in Tampa Bay meant one thing: new C-level hires.

Tampa Bay technology companies had a slew of promotions to the C-suite in the last month, which we've rounded up below. And not to worry — there were plenty of acquisitions and relocations, too.

Promotions

  • Tampa tech firm Blue.Cloud is continuing its upward trajectory and hired Koray Ozcubukcu as its first COO. Ozcubukcu previously served as managing director at Seattle-based Slalom. He joins as the company hit a $100M valuation and is eyeing an IPO. TBBJ's got that story
  • Sarasota-based Bridge Angel Investors hired Kim Miele as its new executive director. She previously served as executive director of the Gulf Coast CEO Forum, and in her new role she will focus on growing deal flow and membership.
  • SOMA Global, a Tampa-based software solution for first responders, appointed Nick Stohlman as its co-founder and chief client officer. He previously served as the company's chief growth officer. He joins fellow co-founder Peter Quintas, who made headlines in 2021 for the company's $22M raise from Weatherford Capital. You can learn more about the company here
  • Todd Hale joined Tampa-based IT company ConnectWise as its chief information officer. He previously served as executive vice president and global CIO for Office Depot.

  • Ashish Kachru was named CEO of Tampa-based DataLink Software, a solutions provider focused on the health care industry. He replaces Kevin Steele, who is retiring.
  • Tampa-based BlueGrace Logistics hired Scott Schara as its chief commercial officer. He will also become president of BlueGrace's third-party logistics sector, called 3PL Services. He previously worked as chief commercial officer for both Coyote Logistics and Forward Air.

Acquisitions

  • Barry Shevlin's CAVU Capital was one of a handful of investment firms that launched in 2020, but less than a year later, he knew he could leverage the firm's strengths even further with a local partnership. After conversations began in September 2021, CAVU announced it's been officially acquired by Tampa-based Hyde Park Capital. But don't expect any lessening of deals — in fact, it will now focus even more on funding, mergers and acquisitions. Get the full details.

  • Brandon-based CyberPeak Solutions was acquired by UNS Inc., a Minneapolis-based IT consulting services provider, for an undisclosed amount. CyberPeak was founded in 2015 and is a managed security service provider.

Expansions

  • Chicago-based CoinFlip is expanding to Tampa and building a "crypto experience center." The company best known for its bitcoin ATMs announced today its 8,000-square-foot space will open at Sparkman Wharf this summer, where it hopes to bring around 40 new jobs. This is the first corporate office expansion for the company, saying Tampa's "growing crypto hub" was a main incentive for the move. Get the story
