These leaders took the helm at Tampa Bay tech companies in 2021

While plenty of leaders flocked to the region in the last year, there was also internal shuffling for many new CEOs and presidents.

While plenty of leaders flocked to the region in the last year, there was also internal shuffling for many new CEOs and presidents.

A shift in leadership could be an indicator of the movement that comes before a major announcement, like going public. It could also be a smaller step toward launching new products, hiring more employees or expanding the company.

Tampa Bay Inno has rounded up every leader who took over a Tampa Bay technology company in 2021.

  • Base Culture, a Clearwater-based natural food brand known for paleo, grain-free and gluten-free frozen baked goods, appointed Heidi Krauss as its new CEO. Krauss previously served as the company's COO. Base Culture's founder and now-former CEO Jordann Windschauer took on a role overseeing the brand’s development, focusing primarily on brand vision and product innovation. Get the full story

  • College Hunks Hauling Junk & Moving promoted its COO to the president's position. Roman Cowan stepped into the role after seven years with the company. During his time as COO, he helped lead the company to its most profitable year to date, according to College Hunks officials. In his new role, he oversees profit and loss accountability.

  • St. Pete-based InformedDNA, a genetics services organization, named Dan Lieber as its new CEO. Former CEO and co-founder David Nixon became executive chairman of its board of directors.
  • Clearwater-based PODS Enterprises named Kathryn Marinello as its new president and CEO. She will fill in the role of previous CEO John Koch, who is retiring. 
  • Shama Keskar, who was previously an engineering leader at Amazon and Google, joined Tampa-based Nickelytics as its co-founder. Former co-founder Sven Hermann stepped down and serves as an adviser to the company. See why Keskar chose the company here.

  • Omnivore, the restaurant tech company that caught the attention of tech titans like Jeff Vinik and Arnie Bellini, appointed Dan Singer as its CEO. He previously served as COO. More here

  • Tampa-based Washlava hired Tommy Hart as its new CEO after founder Todd Belveal stepped down. Hart is a former manager at PwC and most recently served as president of Jacksonville-based Offload Business Solutions. Get the story.

  • Michael Browne, Lumina Analytics' COO turned CEO, stepped down from the top spot after nine months. Browne was a big get for Lumina, originally leaving his executive position at IBM for Lumina after the two entities became partners. Lumina Co-founder Allan Martin is serving as interim CEO and hopes to fill the spot by March 2022. Browne will remain as an adviser to the company on its board of managers.   • SKUx, a St. Petersburg-based fintech company that aims to help users find promotional offers, hired Jay Loeffler as president. He previously served at St. Pete-based Valpak and SKULocal as chief revenue officer. In his new role, he has a goal to boost the company's sales and marketing teams.
