Clayton-based fleet technology firm SureCam has expanded its C-suite, appointing a chief operating officer.

SureCam has named Justin White to the newly created role of chief operating officer. The appointment marks a promotion for White, who has been managing director of SureCam’s operations in Europe. As chief operating officer, White will maintain his position leading SureCam’s European team.

Founded in 2014, SureCam provides vehicle fleet companies with connected dashcams and video telematics software to help them reduce insurance claim costs and better manage fleet safety and tracking. It focuses on providing its products and software to small and medium-size (SMB) businesses, with its client base including service-oriented businesses like utilities, contractors and delivery firms. In addition to its global base in Clayton, SureCam has a European headquarters in the United Kingdom.

In his new role, White will be responsible for several key functions of SureCam’s business, including supply chain, manufacturing and customer onboarding. He will report to President Max Hillman

“Justin is a seasoned and trusted leader both within SureCam, and within the telematics industry,” Hillman said. “He is uniquely qualified to drive global operations as SureCam continues our hyper growth.”

Before beginning his tenure at SureCam in 2016, White was general manager of fleet technology company Ctrack. At SureCam, the company said White has been “responsible for leading the overall strategy and execution for SureCam’s direct business in the UK,” as well as its acquisition in 2020 of Germany-based Trajet.

The addition of its chief operating officer role comes as SureCam targets rapid growth, closing in May on $11.5 million in fresh funding to enhance its technology and add to its team. SureCam, which has nearly 70 employees, said it projects year over year revenue growth of about 40% in 2022. It does not disclose specific revenue figures.

“When I joined SureCam in 2016, the business really was a startup. Today, we are a market leader in the U.K. with a long list of well-known brands,” White said in a statement. “Now, SMB clients make up a substantial portion of our base. Our growth with SMB has stemmed from SureCam’s commitment to being the easiest video telematics platform, something of particular importance to small and midsize business owners and managers.”

SureCam’s majority owner is Clayton-based private equity firm Lewis & Clark Capital, which acquired the business in 2017 and relocated its global headquarters from the United Kingdom to Clayton.
