Miami Marlins fans can name their own ticket prices the next time they want to catch a game.

The Major League Baseball team entered into a three-year partnership with TicketRev, a startup based in Boca Raton. Founded in 2022, the company helps fans find ticket deals for live events and then submit their preferred price and seating location. From there, the ticket sellers can choose to accept an offer and offload unsold inventory.

Marlins fans can visit the MLB team's website to pitch ticket prices for regular season home games.

TicketRev founder and CEO Jason Shatsky said the startup aims to 'democratize' the ticketing industry.

"We take immense pride in partnering with the Marlins to provide their fans with unforgettable in-stadium experiences," he said in a statement.

Ticket holders can use TicketRev to upgrade their seat location at LoanDepot Park and submit an offer price per ticket. The platform enables the team to automatically accept and fulfill those requests based on its ticket inventory.

The Marlins isn't the only MLB team interested. Last year, TicketRev secured $1.1 million in a funding round backed by the Minnesota Twins, along with investors like 500 Startups and Techstars.

The ability to name their own price could help bring more people to Marlins games. The Miami team had the second- lowest regular season attendance rates in the U.S. in 2023, with an average of 14,355 fans per game. In comparison, the Los Angeles Dodgers had the highest attendance with about 47,371 fans per game.

The Marlins has launched several promotions to bring more people to the stadium, including a $52 all-you-can-eat pass for home games.

In addition to matching fans with tickets, the TicketRev collaboration will give the Marlins access to analytics that can help the team better understand what fans want when they go to the ballpark, said Christian Lowe, Marlins VP of analytics and strategy.

"This partnership underscores the Marlins continued commitment to creating the perfect game day experience for our fans," he said.
