Companies developing software, water purification technology and data-driven pain management solutions are among a new wave of recruits for Global Ventures at Florida Atlantic.

Based at the Research Park at Florida Atlantic University, Global Ventures is an incubator program for second-stage technology companies. The four startups joining the program now occupy office space at the Research Park, located in Boca Raton.

Participants were chosen after an application process based on factors such as their potential for growth and ability to partner with FAU. Entrepreneurs will have access to mentorship, networking opportunities, funding guidance and introductions to specialized FAU faculty students.

The selected startups are:

  • InfraSite: Founded in West Palm Beach, the telecom service provider is the developer of a Smart Vault Solution that allows for the safe placement of digital infrastructure in most locations.
  • Fenway Group: The IT company provides digital services for businesses.
  • Signalic: The biomedical technology company uses artificial technology to develop pain management solutions for people with chronic pain or who are addicted to opioids.
  • Salus Water: The company builds residential water filtration and purification systems to improve water quality.

"Our goal is to provide a supportive and collaborative environment for these promising companies to thrive and succeed," said Ryan Lilly, Global Ventures program manager. "We believe that their innovative approaches and track records hold significant potential for South Florida’s economic growth and make a significant impact in the business world."

Established in 1985, the Research Park is governed by the Florida Atlantic Research and Development Authority, an independent special district created by Palm Beach and Broward counties in partnership with FAU. In addition to Global Ventures, it is home to FAU Tech Runway, a public-private startup accelerator.

Last year the Research Park reported companies located at the research and development facility supported nearly 1,000 jobs. More than half of the businesses at the park provide internships or employment to FAU graduates, the report said.

Global Ventures "is a testament to the thriving tech entrepreneurial ecosystem in South Florida and our commitment of the Research Park at FAU to support and foster the growth of innovative businesses,” said Research Park president Andrew Duffell.
