Meet 5 South Florida companies receiving investments from Google

Five South Florida startups are among the 46 U.S. companies selected to receive $150,000 cash investments from the Google for Startups Latino Founders Fund.

Launched by technology giant more than a decade ago, the Google for Startups program connects emerging entrepreneurs with sales and fundraising training, technical support from Google mentors and mental health coaching. Recipients also receive up to $100,000 in Google Cloud credits to fuel their businesses.

"These founders are solving some of our most pressing problems," Google for Startups VP Lisa Gevelber wrote in a blog post announcing the 2023 recipients.

Along with the Black Founders Fund, the Latino Founders Fund is focused on uplifting startups founded by people of color. Data shows that entrepreneurs from Hispanic and Black backgrounds are underrepresented in the technology sector and face more barriers when it comes to raising capital. The Google funds provide cash awards without requiring recipients to give up equity in their businesses.

Google reports it has provided more than $45 million in cash funding to 547 Black and Latino entrepreneurs since 2020. Past recipients have gone on to raise at least $400 million from investors to grow their companies.
