The company that operates online insurance marketplace HealthCare.com is cutting 149 jobs.

Healthcare Inc., at 3401 N. Miami Ave., said the affected employees are largely remote and based in multiple states, according to a Workers Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) submitted to Florida officials.

The layoffs are expected to be permanent, the WARN notice stated.

The affected jobs include 79 product advisers, 12 member support specialists, agent contract specialists and call center specialists, wrote Kate Arambula, VP of people and culture at Healthcare Inc. The company's director of talent acquisition and VP for agent user acquisition were also cut.

Most of those employees were let go Tuesday.

Arambula did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

HealthCare.com uses data and artificial intelligence to match individuals with health care products, including its own proprietary insurance plans and customizable insurance product bundles. Headquartered in Miami and New York, the venture is backed by $244 million in investment capital, according to data from Crunchbase, a platform that tracks information about private and public businesses.

The company raised $180 million in a series C financing round in December, boosting its valuation to $1 billion. At the time, HealthCare.com planned to hire more employees with the new financing.
