Venture Miami's tech hiring fair will return to Miami Dade College, Wolfson Campus April 14 in a bid to connect nearly 50 startups and established companies with local talent.

The event features a range of tech firms involved in everything from cryptocurrency to cybersecurity, with South Florida-based firms such as Kaseya, BrainStation, Lula, Neocis, Papa and SmartHop among the ventures seeking hires. In total, the participating businesses hope to fill more than 800 open positions.

The hiring fair is being organized by Mayor Francis Suarez's Venture Miami initiative, which is dedicated to growing the city's technology and innovation sector.

"A key component to realizing the vision is connecting local talent to career opportunities," Venture Miami said in a statement.

Event sponsors include Miami-Dade County, Uber, eMerge Americas and Algorand, a decentralized blockchain technology network.

Venture Miami aims to ensure locals will have the chance to fill some of the higher-paying tech jobs migrating to South Florida as more startups scale in the area. Organizations like the Knight Foundation and SoftBank are partnering with Miami colleges and universities to upgrade their STEM degree programs and produce graduates prepared for in-demand roles in cybersecurity, software engineering and more.

Last December, Venture Miami hosted its first hiring fair to help businesses fill more than 1,000 tech jobs. The organization was unable to confirm how many people were hired at that event.
