The holiday season is in full swing, but that doesn’t necessarily mean consumers are caught up with their shopping.
In fact, if you’re anything like me, you might be scrambling to land some last-minute gifts for friends and families – especially the ones who can be difficult to shop for (and let’s be real, we all know them).
Fortunately, South Florida companies have no shortages of interesting gift ideas for shoppers, with products bound to please anyone on your holiday list. Check them out below.
For the health fanatic
Think 23andMe, if all of the results were focused on health care. Founded in 2017, Miami-based SelfDecode provides personalized recommendations based on an individual’s DNA, lab work and environment. The goal? To help customers optimize their health based on their genome. Customers can order a DNA testing kit or upload existing DNA and lab tests to its online platform to receive a wellness report that covers areas like anxiety, blood pressure, chronic fatigue, gut issues, heart health.
For the insomniac
The sleep tech company’s Pod Pro mattress can regulate temperature and analyze a user's movements and sleep phases to improve the quality of their slumber. Eight Sleep reports its products help customers fall asleep up to 40% faster, experience up to 30% fewer tosses and turns, and increase deep sleep by 20%. But it’s going to cost you: The smart mattress starts at about $2,800.
For, well, anyone who’s stressed out
The startup, which relocated to Miami in 2020, is a luxury CBD and wellness brand that offers a selection of seven CBD products, including its signature stress drops and gummies. While House of Wise products are designed to empower women, they are more than likely to appeal to men as well.
For kids who love to read (or who you want to love to read):
The family video-calling app integrates children’s books and activities, enabling families to read and play together across long distances. Caribu’s website has a selection of holiday gift sets and digital subscriptions to choose from.
For the one who’s hard to shop for
It can feel impossible to pick a gift for certain people in your life (flashing back to how my grandma literally banned me from buying something and adding to her "clutter"). So why not let them choose for themselves? Miami-based Goody is a website and mobile app that lets users send personalized gifts via text message to friends, family or colleagues. If they like it, they can accept the gift; if not, they can swap it out and pick something they actually want.
For pets (and pet lovers)
For furry friends and the people who love them, consider ordering something from Dania Beach-based Chewy. The e-commerce giant (NYSE: CHWY) has literally anything your dog, cat, rabbit, etc. could possibly want.
For couples/significant others
The Miami-based company creates gift boxes designed to promote couples and self-care, with boxes that include candles, massage oils, shower scrubs and more.
For singles
The subscription box service for single women creates monthly boxes stacked with organic beauty products, jewelry, snacks, books and other surprises. Another nice addition: The Boca Raton company donates a portion of all proceeds to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
For dessert lovers
Fireman Derek’s/Night Owl Cookies
If all else fails, you can’t go wrong with a good dessert. You can purchase gift cards for local favorites like Night Owl Cookies and Fireman Derek’s for the person in your life with a major sweet tooth.
