Ingram Micro Cloud is expanding its presence in South Florida and plans to double its local workforce in the first half of 2022, the company announced.

Among the positions the Irvine, California-based company is trying to fill are cloud engineers and tech workers specializing in infrastructure as a service, a form of data processing that gives computing resources over the web. Ingram Micro Cloud is also looking for people filling positions in sales, customer support and marketing.

John Dusett, executive director of cloud services at Ingram Micro Cloud, said greater Miami's growth as a tech hub makes it an "extremely attractive market" to be in.

"Miami's rich talent pool and world-class universities are great resources for finding individuals eager to start a career in high-tech," Dusett said in a statement sent to the Business Journal. "Additionally, Miami is a dynamic, diverse city which fits well with Ingram Micro Cloud's vast multicultural employee and client network."

Dusett added that Miami is becoming a "crucial U.S. hub" that Ingram Micro Club wants to use as a bridge "to access our operations in Central and South America."

Dusett stated that Ingram Micro Cloud will be increasing its workforce in South Florida from 200 to 400 "over the next couple of quarters," between Q1 and Q2 of 2022. Dusett added that Ingram Micro Cloud will be expanding its presence in South Florida "in the coming years" and intends to open an Ingram Micro Cloud Academy in South Florida that will partner with local universities, community groups, and veteran organizations.

Ingram Micro Cloud opened an 88,000-square-foot office in Doral more than six years ago. In June 2015, it moved into a 118,897-square-foot space at the Beacon Centre business park just west of Miami International Airport.

The company is a division of Ingram Micro, which has 35,000 employees spread in offices within 60 countries. Beverly Hills, California-based private equity firm Platinum Equity acquired Ingram Micro for $7.2 billion in July.

Ingram Micro Cloud will hold a job fair from noon to 8 p.m. on Dec. 14 at Top Golf, 11850 N.W. 22nd St. in Doral. Click here for information on the company's hiring process.
