Tech is taking center stage during Miami Art Week, with a variety of digital art showings, networking events and NFT conferences scheduled between Nov. 30-Dec. 5.
Miami Art Week returns to the Magic City this week after a Covid-related hiatus in 2020. Art Basel, taking place Dec. 2-4, anchors the weeklong series of art fairs that typically attract thousands of international and domestic visitors. This year, technology and art will unite at several events hosted by local tech organizations.
NFT BZL
More than 60 speakers are on the agenda for NFT BZL on Nov. 30 at the FTX Arena in downtown Miami. Organized by Mana Tech Managing Director Michelle Abbs, the event is one of the first major conferences focused on non-fungible tokens (NFTs), essentially collectible digital assets that can be used to represent artwork and other digital items.
NFT BZL's program intends to educate its audience about the applications and investment opportunities for NFTs. Conference speakers include Miami Mayor Francis Suarez; Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava; Aexlab co-founder Albert Ovadia; CoinDesk anchor Christine Lee; OnChain Studios co-founder and CEO Will Weinraub, and more.
La Casa
Florida Funders and Miami-based eMerge Americas from Nov. 30-Dec. 1 are hosting La Casa, an invitation-only event at The Citadel food hall and bar in Miami. Attendees will have the opportunity to network with tech industry insiders and attend interactive panels on everything from raising capital to Miami's future as a cryptocurrency hub. The two-day event will include speeches and panels with a who's who of Miami tech leaders, including Atomic CEO Jack Abraham; Boatsetter CEO Jackie Baumgarten; Black Ambition CEO Felecia Hatcher, Papa CEO Andrew Parker, and Cyxtera founder and chairman Manny Medina. Miami Mayor Suarez and Miami-Dade Mayor Levine-Cava are also scheduled to speak at La Casa.
Flagler Street Art Festival
NFTs are taking over downtown Miami.
Mana Public Arts and Urban Impact Lab are organizing the Flagler Street Art Festival, a digital arts event centered on Flagler Street taking place Nov. 30-Dec. 5. Attendees can check out "The SuperRare Monolith," a 23-foot-tall digital canvas that will feature NFT artworks throughout the week; an outdoor digital NFT art gallery that will illuminate the façades of historic buildings; and new street art murals in the neighborhood.
Cube Art Fair Miami
Cube Art Fair is taking over 50 billboards in Miami, including Wynwood and downtown, from Dec 1-6. The company will use those spaces to showcase NFTs and bring awareness to digital art. The event will culminate with a giant mural projected onto the InterContinental Hotel in downtown Miami.
