Papa's new headquarters was designed with one overarching theme in mind: Home.
The "family-on-demand" technology platform for older adults recently set up shop at its 11,420-square-foot office at 66 S.W. Sixth St. in Miami's Brickell district. The space — set off by soaring ceilings, colorful couches and armchairs, and an open-plan office aesthetic — is intended to convey a cozy living space inspired by the home of CEO Andrew Parker's grandfather, who the company is named for.
"Honoring Andrew's Papa, and the familial culture of the office, MKDA approached Papa’s new headquarters by honing in on the true feeling of home," said Amanda Hetzler, a primary designer at interior design firm MKDA. "In lieu of a formal reception area, you are greeted with an informal living room setting with vintage-inspired furniture, textures, and patterns that would’ve been found in his grandfather's home."
The office includes multiple workspaces, a sprawling kitchen, private meeting booths and lounge areas, and an expansive outdoor deck with seating and views of the Miami skyline.
The company signed the lease for the new office in late 2020. Parker previously told the Business Journal the space can accommodate about 80 employees and Papa's leadership team.
Founded in 2017, Papa matches older adults with young companions called "Papa Pals" who assist them with transportation, light house chores and errands. Its platform Papa Health connects members with virtual doctor appointments with the assistance of their Papa Pals, who are on hand to help members navigate the online appointments and assist with chronic care management.
Papa has amassed significant backers and partners including Comcast Ventures, Aetna, Humana and Florida Blue. In April, the company raised $60 million in a financing round led by Tiger Global Management, tripling its venture capital dollars.
