Santa Clara, California-based robotics startup Collaborative Robotics, aka Cobot, is opening a new Seattle office this month.
The company will have a 6,000-square-foot space at 100 NE Northlake Way, north of Lake Union, that houses 30 employees, a spokesperson said.
In a Thursday news release, Cobot said its "foundation models AI team," which will explore how AI can advance robotics, will be based in the Seattle office.
"We aim to achieve a new level of comprehension and control in our robots, enabling them to understand and respond effectively to complex tasks and environments. I am looking forward to seeing the innovations this talented team creates," Cobot founder and CEO Brad Porter said in the release.
The new office is opening after Cobot raised a $100 million Series B funding round in April. Michael Vogelsong, co-founder of Amazon's deep learning tech team, is leading the new AI team at Cobot.

Cobot was founded in 2022. The company is making robots designed to collaborate with humans in areas like health care, warehouses, offices and more. Cobot isn't yet disclosing the robot design but said it had multiple ready in January for testing with a logistics partner.
Porter spent more than 13 years at Amazon, according to his LinkedIn page, where his last role was vice president of robotics and distinguished engineer.
Along with the new space, Cobot on Thursday said it was giving a research grant to Sidd Srinivasa, a robotics professor at the University of Washington. Cobot didn't disclose the size of the grant but called it "a significant gift." Srinivasa is also an adviser to Cobot.
Cobot's investors include General Catalyst and Sequoia. General Catalyst has invested in Airbnb and Snap, while Sequoia has invested in Apple and Google.
