Customer and employee experience company Qualtrics on Tuesday named longtime Seattle marketing leader Lynn Girotto as the company's chief marketing officer.

Girotto will lead the company's communications, demand generation and pricing, among other functions. A Qualtrics spokesperson said that before Girotto's hire, the company's marketing had been led by Chief Operating Officer Brian Stucki.

“Qualtrics is at an incredible inflection point as a brand,” Girotto said in a news release. “It’s an exciting time to join Qualtrics."

Girotto is joining Qualtrics, which has dual headquarters in Seattle and Provo, Utah, from the video platform Vimeo, where she was also the company's CMO. She spent about two years there, according to her LinkedIn page, before which she spent about two years as CMO of the insights platform Heap. Other stops in her career include Amperity, Tableau, Getty, Starbucks and Microsoft.

Qualtrics was founded in 2002. The company uses data to improve customer and employee experience. Its technology finds pain points in user experience, such as a cumbersome step in downloading a new app, allowing clients to make the needed adjustments to retain customers. The company says it has almost 20,000 clients, including Samsung, Coca-Cola and Citi.

Qualtrics had initially planned to go public in 2018, but days before going public, SAP announced plans to acquire the company. The $8 billion deal closed in January 2019, but then SAP spun Qualtrics out in January 2021, after which Qualtrics went public on the Nasdaq. In June of last year, however, private equity firm Silver Lake acquired Qualtrics for about $12.5 billion in partnership with Canada Pension Plan Investment Board.

In October, Qualtrics laid off about 780 employees, or roughly 14% of its staff, adding to layoffs in January 2023 of about 270 employees.
