Seattle-based investment firm Silver Creek Capital Management is bolstering its senior leadership.

On Monday, Silver Creek named former BlackRock and Research Affiliates veteran Nathan Kelso as its chief technology officer. The move comes just months after the firm named new investment and business development executives.

“Nathan’s extensive information technology experience, paired with his deep understanding of the investment management sector, will be invaluable as we build systems to increase efficiency," Silver Creek President Bob Ratliffe said in a news release.

In an email to the Business Journal, Ratliffe said Kelso wasn't replacing anyone but is "adding to our bench strength in technology."

Kelso was chief information security officer at the investment insights tool Research Affiliates for more than a decade, according to Silver Creek. Before Research Affiliates, his LinkedIn page notes he spent about six years as a director at the investment giant BlackRock. Earlier stops include about four months as a partner at Fortium Partners, which provides tech leadership to clients on an as-needed basis.

Kelso isn't the first person who's worked at BlackRock that Silver Creek has pulled into its ranks recently. In February, the firm named David Matter, who spent more than 14 years at BlackRock, as co-chief investment officer. Silver Creek in March named former Investcorp executive Michael Callahan as managing director of business development.

Both Matter's and Callahan's roles were new at Silver Creek as well, Ratliffe said at the time.

Silver Creek, founded in 1994, has $8.6 billion in assets under management. It offers services in hedge fund strategies, private credit and real assets. The firm works with public and corporate retirement plans, insurance companies, foundations, endowments and high-net-worth individuals.
