Cybersecurity company Veeam has moved its headquarters from Columbus, Ohio, to Carillon Point in Kirkland.

A company spokesperson said Veeam made the move during the first quarter and has roughly 50 employees in the Seattle area, but the company plans to add to that number. Veeam took one full floor at Carillon Point, roughly 17,000 square feet.

According to the spokesperson, Veeam chose Kirkland because of the talent in the area, its growing number of employees here and proximity to partners like Microsoft and Amazon.

Veeam, founded in 2006, focuses on data protection, but the company also helps clients recover data as needed. The company says it gives clients insights about their data's location and protection in real time. Its clients include Deloitte, Shell and Airbus.

Veeam has more than 5,000 employees globally, according to the company spokesperson. Private equity firm Insight Partners acquired Veeam in 2020 for $5 billion.

Veeam says on its LinkedIn page it has more than 450,000 customers and offices in more than 30 countries. In addition to Columbus and Kirkland, Veeam has U.S. offices in Atlanta and Phoenix listed on its website.

Veeam in December 2021 appointed Anand Eswaran as CEO. Eswaran spent two years as president and chief operating officer at RingCentral before taking over at Veeam. Before that, according to his LinkedIn page, he spent four years at Microsoft, where his last role was corporate vice president of Microsoft enterprise.

Carillon Point has gained a number of new tenants in recent years. In 2022, Bordeaux Wealth Advisors moved its local office from Bellevue to Carillon Point. Cybersecurity company Tanium, meanwhile, moved its headquarters from the Bay Area to Carillon Point in December 2020, but the company is now looking for a larger space in Bellevue to house its growing team. The 26-acre mixed-use waterfront property has 440,000 square feet of office space.
