Former T-Mobile exec takes over as CEO at Opanga Networks

Seattle-based telecommunications company Opanga Networks Inc. has named Cole Brodman as the company's new CEO.

Brodman spent more than 11 years at T-Mobile USA, according to his LinkedIn page, and held both the chief technology officer and chief marketing officer roles there. Opanga announced the hire Wednesday and said Brodman is replacing founder Dave Gibbons, who is retiring but will remain on Opanga's board.

“I’m honored to join Opanga Networks as CEO after serving on its board and seeing firsthand the value of its platform in the wireless industry,” Brodman said in a news release. “This is a truly pivotal time in mobile network deployments globally."

Brodman held the CTO role at T-Mobile role for close to four years and was CMO for more than a year. He also was the company's chief development officer for about six years. He left T-Mobile in 2012 and starting in 2014 spent about seven years as a venture partner at the Bellevue-based firm Trilogy Equity Partners.

According to Opanga, Brodman has been on the company's board for eight years and has more than 30 years of experience total.

Gibbons, meanwhile, has been working in the wireless field since 1989. Opanga says on its website he has held senior roles at AT&T, Nokia and Motorola.

Opanga make software for the telecommunications industry. On its website, the company says it focuses on machine learning applications. According to Opanga, its RAIN platform can be used to provide insights on data traffic and increase network efficiency. In addition to its Seattle headquarters, Opanga has offices in London and Mexico City. The company has 40 employees listed on LinkedIn, and it has a partnership with Cisco Systems.

In the release, Opanga said Brodman will oversee the launch of RAIN and the company's expansion into new regions.
