Kirkland-based computer vision company Plainsight Technologies has named Kit Merker as the company's new CEO.
Merker, who has worked at tech giants Microsoft and Google, started in the CEO role Tuesday. Plainsight said in a news release he has more than 20 years of experience.
“Kit is an exceptional leader with deep expertise in technology, product, and go-to-market and who understands how to make customers successful," Spencer Powers, Plainsight's board chairman, said in the release. "We knew that he would be a great fit to take Plainsight to the next level."
Plainsight was founded in 2007, according to its LinkedIn page. The company allows clients to easily use computer vision for purposes such as monitoring progress at a drive-thru line, identifying foreign objects in produce and counting livestock. The company says the software can work with clients' existing cameras.
A spokesperson said the company was named Plainsight Corp. before reincorporating as Plainsight Technologies in December. The company previously focused on helping clients implement computer vision, but now sells the actual computer vision software.
Merker most recently spent more than four years at the software monitoring platform Nobl9, where his last role was chief growth officer, according to his LinkedIn page. Earlier in his career, he spent close to two years at Google as a product manager and more than 10 years at Microsoft in a variety of roles.
Merker is replacing Carlos Anchia as CEO. Anchia held the role for more than three years, according to his LinkedIn page. He left Plainsight in November, according to the company spokesperson, before the company reincorporated and shifted its focus.
"Here's to continued success and innovation," Anchia wrote in a LinkedIn post. "Plainsight's future is as bright as ever, and I will always cherish the memories and achievements we shared together."
Although Plainsight is headquartered in Kirkland, the company said in a release its team is distributed.
