Seattle-based hiring tech company Textio announced Wednesday that Kieran Snyder, co-founder and former CEO, has stepped into an emeritus role as chief scientist.
Jensen Harris, the company's other co-founder and Snyder's husband, is taking over as CEO. He was previously the chief experience officer (CXO), a role the company doesn't plan to fill moving forward.
“I spent a lot of time at the end of last year reflecting on whether I’m the right CEO to take Textio into this next wave," Snyder said in a release. "If I’m being honest, nine years in, I need some time to recharge. Textio’s success is much too important to me to show up with only part of the energy required to effectively lead. Through it all, Jensen has been my top partner at Textio and in life. I can imagine no better CEO for the next chapter of Textio’s journey.”
Snyder has led Textio as CEO since the company launched in 2014. Before that, she spent more than nine years at Microsoft in program manager roles, according to her LinkedIn page.
Harris, meanwhile, had been Textio's CXO for more than a year before taking over as CEO. Before his role as CXO, according to his LinkedIn page, Harris was Textio's chief technology officer for nearly eight years. He spent more than 16 years at Microsoft before launching Textio.
“As I look ahead to leading Textio, I’m energized to accelerate the company beyond this current inflection point," Harris said in a release.
Textio helps clients choose better language in job postings so they can limit bias and hire more diverse teams. The company also uses artificial intelligence to remove bias from performance reviews. According to Textio, the company has more than 1,300 customers and has impacted over 30 million employees. Its clients include Samsung, Uber, American Express and T-Mobile.
