Seattle-based home maintenance startup Onder has been acquired by EasyKnock, a sale-leaseback company headquartered in New York City.
The companies didn't disclose the financial terms of the deal, which was announced Monday.
“This acquisition is a key addition to EasyKnock’s extensive suite of products and services, allowing us to expand our offering," Jarred Kessler, founder and CEO of EasyKnock, said in a news release.
An EasyKnock spokesperson said that Onder will fold into EasyKnock's property management team.
EasyKnock didn't say whether all of Onder's employees would join EasyKnock or provide a total headcount for the combined company. Onder has four employees listed on LinkedIn, while EasyKnock has 124.
Onder, founded in 2021, is a subscription service for homeowners to access contractors. It offers services in plumbing, electrical systems, roof maintenance and siding repair. Onder has a standard package that costs $8.25 per month when billed annually, and a more comprehensive package costs $33.25 per month when billed annually. The company charges additional fees for services not included in its subscription packages.
EasyKnock, meanwhile, was founded in 2016. The company buys homes from consumers and allows them to stay as renters. The aim is to provide consumers access to the equity they've built in their homes. According to the company, selling to EasyKnock takes between four and six weeks from start to close. EasyKnock customers can either buy the home back or look for a new home and have EasyKnock list the old home.
Onder co-founder and CEO David Krieger is joining EasyKnock as chief product strategy officer. Krieger spent 10 years at Expedia in various product and strategy roles before co-founding Onder, according to his LinkedIn page.
“This acquisition is a natural fit as Onder complements what EasyKnock has already accomplished, and together, we will continue to expand products and services to help more homeowners," Krieger said in the release.
