Bellevue-based authentication tech company Auth0 has consolidated its team into the Bellevue office of its parent company Okta.

An Okta spokesperson confirmed the move to the Business Journal on Tuesday, saying all Okta employees in Bellevue moved into the Okta location in September of last year. Okta, an authentication tech company headquartered in San Francisco, acquired Auth0 for $6.5 billion in stock in 2021.

"We closed duplicative sites and decommissioned underutilized offices and floors as part of our growth strategy last year," an Okta spokesperson said in a statement to the Business Journal. "We are also continuing to redesign our workspaces to better support dynamic work, including reconfiguring spaces to accommodate more collaborative activities, such as team offsites and customer meetings."

Auth0 moved its headquarters to the U.S. Bank Plaza in Bellevue in 2018. Auth0 took over a second floor of the building in 2019. When the company announced the acquisition by Okta, Auth0 co-founder and then-CEO Eugenio Pace said the company was expanding into a third floor at the U.S. Bank Plaza.

The Okta spokesperson said the company's Bellevue space is at Midstation Bellevue at 110 110th Ave. The spokesperson didn't say how many square feet the previous Auth0 space was in total or how many Okta employees are based in Bellevue.

Auth0, founded in 2013, helps clients create login solutions. Pace at the time of the acquisition announcement said Auth0 was more focused on clients who needed login solutions for their own customers, while Okta was geared more toward employers trying to create login solutions for employees.

"The buyer of Okta is typically the IT department of a company, whereas our customer is mostly the developers. It's somebody building stuff," Pace said at the time. "We can combine the signals of both companies and increase the security and assurance of who you are."

Auth0 raised a $120 million Series F round in 2020 and hit a value of $1.92 billion. Auth0's clients include Pfizer, Providence and Siemens. Okta's clients, meanwhile, include FedEx, Major League Baseball and T-Mobile.

According to Okta, the company has more than 18,000 customers. Pace's title is now president of business operations at Okta.

Auth0 has maintained its brand but is labeled as an Okta company on its website. Okta has more than 8,700 employees listed on its LinkedIn page, including 337 listed in the Seattle area. Auth0 has almost 450 total employees listed on LinkedIn.
