Seattle-based research software company Tyemill has been acquired by Syntax, an investment analytics company headquartered in New York City.
The companies announced the deal on Tuesday. According to a news release, Tyemill's 24 employees joined Syntax on March 1 through the acquisition.
"The combined teams will continue to develop and launch groundbreaking products and services," Syntax CEO Patrick Shaddow said in the release. “Adding Tyemill’s expertise to our organization will enable us to deliver a seamless client experience."
Ellen Anderson, Tyemill's CEO, has joined Syntax as managing director and will lead the company's Seattle office in Fremont.
Syntax didn't respond to inquiries about the deal or provide additional details.
Tyemill, founded in 2010, makes software to help clients understand complex data. The company makes solutions for institutional investors, scientific researchers and hospitals. According to a release, Tyemill's technology has supported Syntax in the past.
“While changes are on the horizon, our passion remains unchanged,” Anderson said in the release. “Our shared vision ... will enable us as one team to continue driving product innovation and accelerate disruptions in the industry as we write our next chapter as a data company.”
Syntax, meanwhile, helps investors better understand financial data. The company says its technology helps investors research companies, screen for target exposures and analyze portfolios. Syntax pulls from data sets taken from regulatory filings to fuel its analyses. The company has 45 employees listed on LinkedIn.
Shaddow joined the company in 2021. Before joining Syntax, he spent 14 years at the index publisher and developer S-Network Global Indexes Inc., where he eventually became head of index operations.
