Seattle-based payments and gift card company Tango Card Inc. has named Grace Liu as its chief financial officer.

Liu is joining Tango after spending close to three years as the head of finance for North America at the buy-now-pay-later company Afterpay. Tango announced Liu's hiring on Tuesday.

"We're elated to bring Grace on as Tango’s new CFO. Grace brings not only a bounty of fintech experience, but also a proven track record of driving growth and identifying new opportunities,” David Leeds, founder and CEO of Tango, said in a news release.

Prior to joining Afterpay, Liu spent three years at the fintech-turned-bank LendingClub, where she was senior director of finance, according to her LinkedIn page. Earlier in her career, Liu spent time at DBS Bank, Standard Chartered Bank and J.P. Morgan. She also co-founded the Women's Investment Club, which inspires "women to invest in what matters," according to the release.

Tango, founded in 2009, offers digital gift cards designed for incentive programs. For example, the company's technology could be used by researchers trying to increase participation in a study or a human resources manager trying to reward employees. Tango offers digital gift cards to companies like Starbucks, REI and Amazon, among others.

The company says has more than 4,000 clients and more than 250 employees. The company also provides prepaid cards and ways to donate to charity.

Tango raised $35 million in 2018. Its investors include FTV Capital, Innovation Endeavors, Floodgate and Fyrfly.

"I am excited to join Tango at such a critical time in its growth," Liu said in a release. "I look forward to working with the talented team here to build on the company's success and help drive growth with our strategic plans."
