Seattle-based salary data and software company Payscale Inc. is going remote-first.

The company on Tuesday confirmed to the Business Journal that it moved out of its Pioneer Square office at 255 S. King St. in early October.

The move follows the company's decision in late summer to get rid of all its real estate by the end of the year, a Payscale spokesperson said.

"We have redeployed funding that previously paid for real estate into programs that allow individuals, teams and broader departments to work on premises as needed to be effective," the spokesperson said in an email to the Business Journal. "We still consider the company's Seattle roots to be its headquarters and with a significant portion of the team still located here, it remains a central hub for ongoing in-person connections."

The spokesperson didn't say how many square feet Payscale was giving up at 255 S. King, but said the space was a sublet through WeWork. The company doesn't have any other offices in the Seattle area it is getting rid of, the spokesperson said.

On its website, Payscale lists additional offices in Denver; Edinburgh, Scotland; Cary, North Carolina; Ottawa, Ontario; and Quincy and Burlington, Massachusetts.

Payscale's software helps manage raises, close pay gaps and make salary decisions based on market data. Workers, meanwhile, can look up salaries for different job titles and companies. Payscale's clients include The Washington Post, Sage and Nestle.

Earlier this month, Payscale acquired Agora Solutions Inc., a San Francisco-based compensation tech company. Payscale said it had about 750 full-time employees at the time of the Agora acquisition. Payscale in August 2021 acquired the salary software firm Curo Compensation, and the company merged with the salary data and management company Payfactors in March 2021.
