Health care company Accolade Inc. (Nasdaq: ACCD), which has dual headquarters in Seattle and outside Philadelphia, has hired Kelli Burns as its new chief information security officer.

Burns is joining Accolade from Symetra, a Bellevue-based financial services company that offers annuities and life insurance. Burns' hiring at Accolade, announced Monday, comes after more than eight years at Symetra, where she most recently served as CISO, according to her LinkedIn page,

"As our data and technology become more sophisticated, we'll continue to invest in security and solutions that help our customers, members and consumers on their personalized health care journeys," Rajeev Singh, Accolade CEO, said in a news release. "We are thrilled to welcome Kelli, who brings diverse industry experience, deep security and privacy expertise."

Prior to joining Symetra, Burns spent more than two years at the consulting firm Ernst & Young, where she was a senior consultant, her LinkedIn page says.

An Accolade spokesperson said Burns is Accolade's sixth CISO, and she is replacing John Visneski. His LinkedIn page says he left the company in February and is currently the CISO at MGM.

Accolade, founded in 2007, works with employers to connect employees virtually with primary care and mental health support. The company went public on the Nasdaq in 2020 through a $220.5 million initial public offering.

In its fiscal first quarter 2023 results, released June 30, Accolade reported revenue of $85.5 million, a 44% year-over-year increase. Earlier this year, however, Accolade disclosed it is losing its biggest customer, Comcast, at the end of the year.

"I am excited to join Accolade in tackling the most challenging healthcare issues with its personal, data-driven and value-based approach that puts trusted relationships at the core," Burns said in a release. "I look forward to working with my team to innovate and continuously improve compliance and security controls to provide an unrivaled experience for members and customers alike."
