Seattle-based freight network startup Convoy Inc. has promoted Maggie Brady to head of people.
Brady has been with Convoy since early last year, according to her LinkedIn page, and was previously head of human resources business partners and human resources operations. Convoy announced the promotion on Thursday.
"Maggie has been a significant contributor to Convoy’s mission long before moving into this position, and I couldn’t be happier to see her in this well-deserved leadership role,” Convoy co-founder and CEO Dan Lewis said in a news release. “I look forward to working together, building on our inclusive culture and empowering employees to be successful."
Before Convoy, Brady spent more than a year at Anthem Inc. as a vice president and about six years at the banking technology heavyweight Fiserv Inc. in various human resources roles. Brady will report to Lewis in her new role, the company said in a release.
A Convoy spokesperson said Brady is replacing Sunita Solao, who left the company in May. Solao had worked at Convoy since September 2020 as vice president of people, according to her LinkedIn page.
Convoy, founded in 2015, connects shippers with its network of carriers, or trucking companies. Carriers, meanwhile, can find and bid on loads through an app. Convoy aims to reduce the number of empty miles truckers spend on the road. Its shippers include brands like Unilever and The Home Depot.
“I’m humbled to take this leadership role and excited to work with our top-notch People team to deliver for our employees and customers,” Brady said in a release.
Earlier this month, Convoy laid off about 90 employees, roughly 7% of its staff. In April, the company raised $260 million, including $160 million in Series E equity funding and $100 million in venture debt, pushing its value to $3.8 billion.
Brady's promotion is Convoy's latest recent senior leadership move. Sonia Jain, previously the chief financial officer at Cars.com, joined Convoy as CFO in April. Diankha Linear, formerly Convoy's general counsel, left Convoy in May 2021 for a California startup and was replaced by John Morrow, formerly the general counsel at Paymentus, in November. Dorothy Li, a longtime Amazon.com Inc. vet, took over as chief technology officer in June 2021 as co-founder and previous CTO Grant Goodale moved over to manage the company's carrier marketplace.
