Flexible warehousing startup Saltbox is growing its Seattle presence.

The company, which is headquartered in Atlanta, is doubling its space at 4786 First Ave. S. in Sodo Row with a 30,000-square-foot expansion slated to open on March 15. A Saltbox spokesperson referred to the expansion as a second location. The company opened a 31,000-square-foot space in the same warehouse complex in August.

Co-founder and CEO Tyler Scriven previously told the Business Journal the expansion would happen either in late 2021 or early 2022.

"That's an effort that's underway now, and we expect to continue to grow in Seattle beyond that," Scriven said in August. "That initial expansion will be an expansion of the immediate space within that location. Future locations you should expect will be in other parts of town."

Saltbox, which was founded in 2019, offers e-commerce companies flexible warehouse space, coworking amenities and logistics support, what the company describes as "co-warehousing." Saltbox also offers photo studios, logistics equipment and loading docks.

According to the company's website, the starting price for one of its Seattle warehouse suites is $675 per month. The spaces range from 100 to 2,000 square feet. Much like popular coworking spaces, Saltbox offers private offices, meeting rooms, common rooms and stocked kitchens, as well as an on-site receptionist, video surveillance and nightly security patrols, according to the company.

In addition to Seattle and Atlanta, Saltbox has locations in Dallas, Denver and Los Angeles. The company raised a $10.6 million Series A round in April.

"There's no market we're not eyeing. I think it's really just a matter of capacity and speed for us at this point," Scriven said in August.

The expansion has 50 warehouse suites, which are in addition to the 49 in the original space. The spokesperson added that over 70% of Saltbox's clients are e-commerce businesses that sell goods directly to consumers.
