Denver-based consulting and curating firm Nine dot Arts has hired Scott Heimes, formerly the chief marketing officer at Zipwhip, as the firm's chief revenue officer.

Heimes is based in Seattle, where Nine dot Arts has a houseboat office in Portage Bay. He officially joined Nine dot Arts in December, just months after Seattle-based Zipwhip, which allowed businesses to text customers from landline phones and computers, was acquired by the San Francisco-based cloud communications company Twilio in July for roughly $850 million.

"It's pretty natural that a lot of the leadership team steps out after a period of time," Heimes said regarding being part of an acquired company. "That was my opportunity to embark on a new phase for me where I'm more of a full-time growth adviser."

Nine dot Artis, which was founded in 2009, uses art to transform spaces in hotels, apartments and offices. Martha Weidmann, CEO, and Molly Casey, chief curator, told the Business Journal last year that Nine dot Arts works with over 10,000 artists globally.

Heimes added that he had already been on Nine dot Arts' advisory board for the past four years before officially joining as CRO, and said putting art in public spaces can have a striking impact. He said he wants to build a sales and customer success team to grow demand for Nine dot Arts' services.

Heimes has been a CMO multiple times in his career, he said. Prior to joining Zipwhip, he was CMO of the Denver-based customer communication company SendGrid. He has also been the CMO at the Minnesota-based e-commerce services company Digital River and WebMD Health Services.

"It's an opportunity to work with Martha and Molly to put in a more comprehensive go-to-market model for them," Heimes said. "There's a lot of momentum in the business right now, so being able to build this foundation for growth I think will help them grow even faster."
