Bellevue-based product authentication startup Alitheon has named Roei Ganzarski as the company's new CEO.

Ganzarski is replacing Brian Crowley, who is listed as CEO on Alitheon's website. According to an Alitheon spokesperson, Crowley has served as interim CEO since March 2020 and is now stepping into the chief operating officer role.

"Alitheon’s disruptive technology is like nothing I have seen before and is truly cutting-edge," Ganzarski said in a news release. "It is the missing link between the physical and digital worlds. I’m extremely excited at the opportunity to lead this team and take the company forward."

Prior to joining Alitheon, Ganzarski spent more than three years as CEO of MagniX, an Everett-based electric propulsion company focused on commercial aerospace and defense. Since 2019, he has also served as the executive chairman at the Arlington-based electric aircraft company Eviation Aircraft. According to Ganzarski's LinkedIn page, he stepped down as executive chairman at Eviation in January. He also spent about four years as CEO of BoldIQ, a Bellevue-based scheduling software company.

Alitheon was founded in 2016. The company's software can identify and create a digital fingerprint for products without needing traditional markers like a bar code, QR code or other seals. Alitheon has more than 36 patents with its technology, according to the company, and its software works with standard cameras.

Alitheon raised a $14.9 million seed round two years ago, when then-CEO Scot Land told the Business Journal that 2020 was going to be "our year." BMW i Ventures, IPD Capital, Shasta Ventures and senior managers from Accenture, Boeing and Fidelity all participated in the seed round.

"Alitheon's ability to identify an item using only the object itself — independent of markings, tags or other modifications — is groundbreaking," said BMW i Ventures partner Marcus Behrendt in a news release at the time of the seed round.
