Bellevue-based cybersecurity consulting firm Scott S. Perry, CPA PLLC has been acquired by Schellman, a Tampa, Florida-based IT compliance company.

The Bellevue firm, named for Scott Perry, its founder and owner, will dissolve its brand, according to a Schellman spokesperson. Scott S. Perry has two employees, the spokesperson added, both of whom will be joining Schellman, which now has 388 total employees. The companies are not disclosing financial details of the deal, which was announced Monday.

“Since our foundation, Schellman has always striven to forge our own niche in the technology compliance industry, and Scott has done something similar. We share that idea for a unique approach, as well as a mutual passion for compliance, and so this could not make for a better fit,” Avani Desai, CEO at Schellman, said in a news release.

Scott S. Perry was founded in 2011. The firm specializes in what is called WebTrust for Certification Authorities, or audits of organizations that verify whether or not a website is safe and secure. According to the release, Scott S. Perry's clients include DocuSign, Lockheed Martin and DigiCert. The firm has also worked with governmental agencies, including the U.S. Senate Sergeant at Arms and the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

The companies said Scott S. Perry will lead Schellman's new practice in crypto and digital trust services.

“Having already invested 17 years in cryptographic-based audits, this new step feels natural,” Perry said in a news release. “In leveraging my firm’s experience, Schellman is now enabled to fully realize the potential of this exploding marketplace."

Schellman, meanwhile, was founded in 2002. The firm provides federal assessments, health care assessments and payment card assessments. According to the firm, its clients include VMware, Box and Avaya. Schellman's website currently lists more than 40 open roles, including positions in auditing, technology and marketing.
