Messaging startup Celo Health, which is headquartered in Auckland, New Zealand, has opened its U.S. headquarters in Seattle.

According to a company spokesperson, Celo Health is starting with roughly 400 square feet at the coworking location Spaces in Belltown but plans to grow its sales team, tech support and physical space this year. The spokesperson added the location opened Jan. 3, and Celo Health currently has three employees assigned to the office.

“Based on the growing global demand for the Celo Health platform, we believed it was an ideal time to introduce this highly secure, reliable and time-saving collaborative solution to U.S. health care teams,” Steve Vlok, founder and CEO of Celo Health, said in a news release.

According to the Celo Health spokesperson, the company's U.S. sales operations will be based in Seattle moving forward. While the Auckland employees are working totally remote due to the pandemic, the spokesperson said, the Seattle employees are working a mixture of in-person and remote.

Celo Health, founded in 2014, provides a messaging app for health care teams that is compliant with federal privacy laws. Users can make customizable groups and patient cases that users can talk about as a group. Users can also search for other users to grow their network. Celo Health's clients include Gold Coast Health, St. Vincent's Health and Third Age Health.

Jack Clough, Celo Health's chief growth officer, will lead the new U.S. headquarters. According to his LinkedIn page, Clough is very early in his career, having received a bachelor's degree from the University of Southern California last year. He did two summer internships with Celo Health and spent three months as a sales development representative at Outreach before becoming Celo Health's chief growth officer in September.
