Seattle-based digital cannabis marketplace Leafly has hired Rebecca Warner, formerly the director of rental sales at Zillow, as Leafly's senior vice president of sales.

Leafly has made a string of high-profile hires recently as the company prepares to go public on the Nasdaq through a merger with the special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) Merida Merger Corp. I, which is expected to close this quarter. Suresh Krishnaswamy joined Leafly as the company's first chief financial officer in late September. That same month Kimberly Boler took over as general counsel, a role left vacant when previous general counsel Yoko Miyashita took over as Leafly's CEO in August 2020.

“Leafly maximizes opportunities for retailers and brands, serves as a key resource for consumers, and positions its platform to educate and inform – all of which sets the company apart in the industry," Warner said in a news release. "I look forward to joining the team and helping Leafly to continue executing on its growth strategy through demonstrating unparalleled value for our customers.”

Warner spent about two years at Zillow before taking her new role at Leafly. Prior to Zillow, she spent more than five years at Domain, an Australian digital property marketplace.

Leafly, founded in 2010, helps consumers shop and research cannabis products online. Leafly was forced to lay off more than 140 employees in early 2020, but Miyashita recently told the Business Journal the company is hiring again.

According to Leafly, over 4 million orders were placed on its platform in 2020 and more than 4,600 retailers are listed on its marketplace.

“Our vision for Leafly centers on continually reinforcing our role as the marketplace of choice for the cannabis community," Miyashita said in a news release. "Rebecca’s experience driving growth at online marketplaces will be critical as we work to unlock Leafly’s full potential to serve our customers and monetize our platform at greater scale as a public company.”
