Washington-based companies made a good showing on Deloitte's 2021 North America Technology Fast 500 list.
Twenty-six companies from the state made the list, which was released Wednesday. The list ranks the fastest-growing technology and life sciences companies in North America.
“It was another banner year for growth for the technology industry here in the Pacific Northwest, especially when it comes to software and (software-as-a-service) companies," Don Heisler, Seattle emerging growth company Fast 500 leader for Deloitte, said in a news release. "The fact that Washington State is home to so many of the fastest-growing technology companies is a huge point of pride for us here in the Deloitte Seattle office and for the entire Washington tech community."
Deloitte selects companies based on percentage fiscal year revenue growth from 2017 to 2020. Companies on the list must have been in business for at least four years and have base-year operating revenue of at least $50,000 and current-year operating revenue of at least $5 million, according to Deloitte.
The country's fastest-growing company over the period was Axonics Inc., a medical technology company in Irvine, California. Its revenue grew from $128,000 in 2017 to $111.5 million in 2020 — a growth rate of more than 87,000%
