Seattle-based smart-product builder Mason announced Wednesday that its brother-sister leadership duo is swapping roles.

Nancy Xiao, previously the president of Mason and a board member, is taking over the CEO role. Her brother Jim Xiao, Mason's founder and previously the CEO, is stepping into the role of president.

“I’m honored to lead Mason’s next chapter in ongoing collaboration with our board and leadership team, building on Mason’s success and manifesting the opportunities ahead for our customers, partners and team,” Nancy said in a company announcement.

Nancy joined Mason in 2019, before which she led product development for Oculus Home. According to her LinkedIn profile, Nancy began working at Facebook in 2014. Jim, meanwhile, founded Mason in 2016. Prior to founding his startup, he was the director of strategy planning at Nexlink Communications, before which he was an analyst with Detroit Venture Partners, his LinkedIn profile says.

Mason offers hardware and software to help clients create smart Android devices. The company can enable clients to create donation kiosks, remote patient monitors and mobile point-of-sale products. Its clients include Alacrity Care and TempTRIP.

The company in 2019 raised $25 million in a Series A round led by Coatue Management.

Mason said has grown its headcount by 50% over the past year and increased the number of devices on its platform by 40%.

“I’m confident that Nancy is the right person to build on Mason’s momentum," Jim said in the announcement, adding that she has been a "driving force" behind the company's operational success.
