Seattle-based video game studio Starform has raised $5 million.

The company disclosed the funding in a Friday regulatory filing. The money comes after Starform in November launched its first game, Metalstorm.

"We’ve been really excited about the reception of the game and we’re excited to have additional capital to scale the team, go to new platforms and ramp up marketing over the course of the year," Starform co-founder and CEO Lou Fasulo said in a message to the Business Journal.

Metalstorm is an air combat shooter game. Fasulo said it's available in Apple's App Store, Google Play and the Epic Games Store.

Fasulo was previously the CEO of Seattle-based game studio Z2, which was acquired by King in 2015 for up to $150 million, depending on whether the company hit certain milestones. Fasulo stayed on at King, the maker of Candy Crush, for more than three years, according to his LinkedIn page, before launching Starform.

On its website, Starform lists its other co-founders as Jason English and Taylor Daynes. English spent about four years at Z2 and was a co-founder of the studio, according to his LinkedIn page, and he spent more than three years at King after the acquisition. Daynes, meanwhile, spent about four years at Z2 and more than two years at King.
