Ten Bay Area companies together raised more $200 million in funding in Series A deals over the past week.
Among the biggest winners were two developers of games built around blockchain technology. Combined, their hauls amounted to more than a quarter of that raised in all the week's Series A rounds.
Here are the details:
N3twork Studios Inc., San Francisco, $46 million: Griffin Gaming Partners led the round for this developer of blockchain-based games. Kleiner Perkins, Galaxy Interactive, KIP, Floodgate, LLL Capital and N3twork Inc. also invested.
Heartex Inc., San Francisco, $25 million: Redpoint Ventures led the round for this provider of data labeling software for machine learning training data. Unusual Ventures, Bow Capital and Swift Ventures also invested.
Pangea Cyber Corp., Palo Alto, $25 million: Ballistic Ventures led the round for this provider of security services for app development.
Metatheory Inc., San Francisco, $24 million: Andreessen Horowitz led the round for this developer of virtual reality worlds and games, which is headed by Kevin Lin, co-founder of Twitch. Pantera Capital, FTX Ventures, Breyer Capital, Merit Circle, Recharge Thematic Ventures, Dragonfly Capital Partners, Daedalus, Sfermion and Global Coin Research also participated.
Akuity Inc., Sunnyvale, $20 million: Lead Edge Capital and Decibel Partners led the round for this provider of an app delivery service.
Predibase Inc., San Francisco, $16.5 million: Greylock Partners led the round for this developer of machine learning software. The Factory also invested.
Cybertino Lab Inc. (dba CyberConnect), Palo Alto, $15 million: Animoca Brands led the round for this developer of blockchain-based social networking software. Sky9 Capital also invested.
Credo AI, San Francisco, $12.8 million: Sands Capital led the round for this developer of software that assesses the risks and ensures the compliance with standards of artificial intelligence and machine learning code. Decibel and AI Fund also invested.
Cushion AI Inc., San Francisco, $12 million: Rose Park Advisors led the round for this developer of an app designed to automatically negotiate with financial institutions to reduce overdraft, late payment and other bank and credit card fees. Flourish Ventures, Vestigo Ventures, The Social Entrpreneurs Fund, Green Cow Venture Capital and CMFG Ventures also participated.
QuestBook, San Francisco, $8.3 million: Lemniscap led the Series A round for this provider of a service designed to help developers of blockchain projects attract funding. Coinbase Ventures, Alameda Research, Dragonfly, Hashed and Polygon also invested.
