Web3 startup Edge & Node opens ‘co-creation’ space at the Presidio in San Francisco

Web3 startup Edge & Node is opening an experimental collaboration space in the heart of the Presidio on Thursday, aiming to attract developers to the city to build the new version of the internet.

The House of Web3, in a 13,000-square-foot historic building across from the Main Parade Lawn, will be an invite-only "co-creation space" (as the company calls it) for those building Web3 projects and applications.

Edge & Node does not have plans for paid memberships or any set revenue model and did not set up the space with the intention of making a profit, according to the company's marketing lead Noelle Becker Moreno. Instead, it will serve as a place for developers to meet and collaborate on projects, while driving the local Web3 scene through speaking events and other programs.

However, Edge & Node is working on ways to incorporate Web3 staples, such as issuing NFTs that grant acceptance or allowing prospective members to earn admittance by completing various tasks for Web3 projects.

Those interested can apply to join the space by proving their Web3 bona fides. The space plans to accept those with track records working on Web3 projects and developing apps.

Edge & Node is the team behind the Graph, a Web3 protocol that makes the data in blockchains more easily searchable for the development of decentralized application, or dapps. The company is working on other "protocols" it will help to make Web3 evolve out of its current user-unfriendly form.

The company is renting the space from the Presidio Trust, which is currently on a drive to attract more businesses to the area following the long-awaited opening of the nearby Tunnel Tops Park.
