A local startup thinks it has an solution for the plague of ransomware attacks.

Titaniam's service encrypts corporate data not just when it's being stored or transferred, but also when it's being used and accessed by applications. In case of a hacking attack, the Los Gatos startup's service can log what data was accessed or downloaded and certify that it remained encrypted.

"Ransomware attacks are happening by the hundreds every day," Arti Raman, Titaniam's founder and CEO, said in a news release. "It's more important than ever for organizations to protect their data."

The company has some new funding to market and further develop its service. It announced Thursday it had raised $6 million in seed funding.

Here's more on its round and other seed funding news from this week.

Titaniam Inc., Los Gatos, $6 million: Refinery Ventures led the round for this provider of a cloud-based data encryption service.

Reveri Health Inc., Stinson Beach, $1.8 million: InReach Ventures led the round for this developer of a self-hypnosis app.
