Ten startups have been selected to join Geekdom's 2022 Geekdom Incubator, which launches June 4.

The 10-week program is intended to teach first-time founders and budding entrepreneurs how to hone startup ideas, create a working business model and take early steps toward gaining local traction.

Geekdom is a San Antonio-based incubator, accelerator and coworking space. Company CEO Charles Woodin said the program is intended to support local entrepreneurs at the beginning of their startup journey.

"We’re especially focused on helping these ventures find the support and opportunities they need to build their businesses here in San Antonio,” he said.

Starting June 4, the 10 selected startups will come together every Saturday for mentoring, workshops, professional development and access as they learn how to grow their businesses. In August, they will share what they've learned about growing a startup — and the progress they've made toward that end — at a community showcase.

Here's a quick look at the 10 teams competing in this cohort and the products they're bringing to the table:

SAFEtech

Helmed by founder John Martin, SAFEtech's purpose is to use technology to help detect and prevent emergency situations in schools. These include active shooters, missing children and health emergencies.

Blynx Inc.

Founded by John Navarro and Joe Gonzalez, both students at University of Texas at San Antonio, Lynx aims to develop hardware and software for low-cost and customizable decorative LED strips.

ScriptCoach

Founded by Leo Salazar, this business-to-business software-as-a-service platform is designed to help sales organizations train new sales employees by cutting out the need for a second person in role-playing exercises.

Get Together Events

This startup helmed by Daniel Fryar will provide a platform to plan events and gatherings between two hours and two weeks in advance — and help you keep an eye on things to do in your area.

MVP Vibe

Founded by Amanda and Eddie Bankston, MVP Vibe is a niche social media platform where artists can get more exposure, monetize their work through tips and brand themselves more efficiently.

Monarch Baby Co.

This company, begun by Lindsey and Ben Lopez, is launching its inaugural product, "The Little Helper Clip," which is designed to attach to different surfaces in order to stop toddlers from dropping and throwing items.

Developmate.io

Developmate.io, the brainchild of Christian Garcia, is designed to automate the process of real estate development by reducing errors and cutting through inefficiencies by using artificial intelligence.

SA Farmer's Market Vendor App

This startup, helmed by Cindy Onyekwelu, is a mobile app that enables users to identify and locate farmer's market vendors.

Unjam

Helmed by Arturo Rodriguez-Segesman, this startup is developing an app that incentivizes better driving. The app monitors your speed, and offers rewards for safe driving in the form of discounts to local businesses along the app user's daily commute.

Dellos Collaborations (Umami.Life)

This online platform — launched by Catherine Sansing and Dale Blankenship — is intended to help users find new recipes as well as the best wine choice to pair with their chosen recipe.

Startups looking to apply to next year's cohort can find the application on Geekdom's main site.
