New and Noteworthy:

Two San Antonio companies have filed new applications in the last week to drill or recomplete new wells in Maverick and La Salle counties.

Local oil and gas exploration and development company Blackbrush Oil and Gas LP filed for recompletion of a vertical oil and gas well in Maverick County with a total depth of 7,700 feet just over 18.5 miles northeast of the nearest town of Eagle Pass.

Another San Antonio-based oil and gas exploration company, GulfTex Energy LLC, has filed a new horizontal drill application for an oil or gas well in the Eagle Ford Shale, in La Salle County 15.6 miles southwest of the nearest town of Cotulla. It will have a total depth of 10,000 feet. This comes on the heels of another application filed the previous week by GulfTex, also for a drilling permit La Salle County roughly 15 miles southwest of Cotulla.

Karnes County was the most active county for applications in the past week, seeing 14 applications.
