Virginia-based cybersecurity company Technica Corporation is hiring up to 20 positions in the coming months in the San Antonio metro area after renewed contracts with several of its Department of Defense clients.

Technica, co-founded in 1991 by CEO Miguel Collado and headquartered in Dulles, Virginia, unveiled its Alamo City arm in 2020. The 2,000-square-foot multipurpose facility is on the 1,900-acre campus of Port San Antonio. The company has two contracts with the U.S. Air Force which serves Air Force commands at both the Port and nearby Lackland Air Force Base, according to talent acquisition manager Cindy Sodano.

One contract, the Defensive Application and Network Support, was awarded to Technica in 2019. A second contract was awarded in 2021 for $43 million and provides support to the Air Combat Command and the 690th battalion locally.

Additional roles have just opened up on the existing contracts, with eight positions that must be filled by on-site San Antonio applicants. More positions will likely be available soon, Sodano said.

Indeed.com lists 17 positions currently available in the San Antonio office to be filled either on-site or remotely.

"It's a lot of network opportunities, service desk, some technical management," Sodano said, noting that Technica is also looking for a systems administrator and systems engineers in San Antonio.

Besides local positions, Technica is also hiring new roles within its Virginia headquarters that could potentially be filled by a remote candidate, Sodano said. These include artificial intelligence engineers, principal software developers and a director of business development and capture for Army cyber programs.

Sodano noted that the roles available in both offices are for highly skilled and technical individuals and will require top-secret security clearances.

"We love to transition military folks coming out and put them into these positions," she said. "That’s one of our key players."

She said veterans are a strong fit for Technica Corporation roles because many have been trained for similar positions within the military already, making the shift easy.

Technica Corporation specializes in network operations and infrastructure, cyberdefense and security and software development, deployment and support. The company invests in research and development and pivots around machine learning, artificial intelligence, and high-performance computing as well as blockchain technology.
