Less than a year after coming to Sacramento, a Silicon Valley health technology company is expanding its local presence.

Sunnyvale-based iHealth Labs Inc. announced Wednesday that it's moved into a bigger office, after more than tripling its number of local employees.

“We felt like having a bigger office would be beneficial for us in the long run,” said Head of Operations Susan Wu.

The company opened a 2,700-square-foot office last September at 8950 Cal Center Drive to work on expanding its iHealth Unified Care service in the region. At the time, it had 20 employees working out of the office. Now, it has around 70 employees, Wu said, and it's moved into a new office in the same building that is 7,000 square feet.

“We see the potential, the growing market in the Sacramento region,” Wu said.

The company is probably best known for its Covid-19 tests — iHealth was a major supplier to the federal government during the pandemic, and its orange-packaged tests were sent to homes all over the country as part of the free program. The company has been manufacturing personal care and medical devices like smart scales, thermometers, blood pressure monitors and pulse oximeters since 2010.

Unified Care is a remote patient monitoring service aimed at helping patients with chronic diseases like diabetes and hypertension better manage their conditions.

The program uses smart medical devices to remotely collect data on patients’ vital signs, and iHealth care providers offer support and coaching, monitor data and notify the patient’s primary care provider when necessary.

There are around 15,000 patients signed up with Unified Care, and more than 10,000 of them are in the Sacramento region. The company also has partnerships with Sutter Independent Physicians and Hill Physicians Medical Group, and is working on getting more doctors on board.

“Hopefully we’ll be able to work with the whole Sutter system soon,” Wu said.

Wu said the company’s goals are to grow to 20,000 patients in the next few months.

“Our goal is to grow Sacramento first, then grow to the whole Northern California" region, Wu said.
