Artificial intelligence startups make final cut for Inno Madness bracket challenge

Inno Madness
Inno Madness is a bracket-style competition for local innovation companies.
SACRAMENTO BUSINESS JOURNAL

The third round of Inno Madness saw a couple of companies working with artificial intelligence make the final round of the Sacramento startup community’s bracket-style competition.

In contention for the top spot are Auburn-based HuLoop Automation and El Dorado Hills-based OnSight Technology.

Even though they are completely different concepts, they have quite a bit in common.

They are both based in the foothills. They both raised money from local investors. They both offer clients the ability to be more efficient by using AI.

They both also were working in AI before November 2022 when OpenAI released ChatGPT and started the current boom in AI investment.

OnSight Technology is the maker of AI-enabled robots for inspecting solar farms. HuLoop sells AI-powered workflow automation software.

OnSight was founded in 2022. HuLoop was spun out of Folsom-based AgreeYa Solutions in June 2022.

The Business Journal's Inno Madness startup competition doesn't feature pitches and offers no prize money. It's just for fun and glory, and to give local startups and tech companies a little ink to let the ecosystem know a bit about them. A short description of each of the 16 competitors, along with links to stories about them, can be found here. Here are the official rules.

Voting for the final round is open now. It runs through 5 p.m. on April 5.
