Roseville-based Datatel Solutions has merged with St. Louis technology brokerage Clarus Communications.
The merger, announced this week, brings together two technology services distributors that work with companies to provide telecommunication and technology products and services. Financial terms of the merger were not disclosed.
With the deal, Datatel will operate as Clarus Communications and be included in the Telecom Decision Makers (TDM) portfolio of brands, a news release states. Clarus and Louisville, Kentucky-based TDM merged in 2021.
Each firm has 20-plus years of experience, with Clarus founded in 2001 and Datatel launching 2003.
“Our twentieth year felt like the right time to expand our reach for our agents and their customers,” said Jeff Ponts, co-founder of Datatel. “We’re always exploring new avenues for our agents and merging with Clarus will keep us and our agents on the road to even more success, given our shared company values and direction.”
Ponts is joining Clarus as its managing partner west, a role that will focus on customer relationships, recruiting and sales.
Chris Torbit, founder and principal of Clarus, said the addition of Datatel adds 400 agents, for a total of 1,000 agents who are able to help source technologies for a wide range of companies.
“Our agent program has always been a cornerstone to our company,” said Torbit. “The addition of Datatel agents is validation of our commitment to the program and, more importantly, our agents’ success.”
Through its distribution services, Clarus sources telecommunications, phone systems, IT, cloud and software licensing and energy services. It has 40 employees. Torbit declined to share Clarus’ annual revenue.
